The Grand Theft Auto community has been abuzz after renowned gaming insider Tom Henderson shared his thoughts on the upcoming GTA VI — and they weren’t exactly comforting for fans counting down the days to May 2026.
During a recent podcast appearance, Henderson said that he wouldn’t be surprised if Rockstar ends up pushing GTA VI’s release from May 26 to a fall 2026 window. His reasoning? A simple gut feeling, which has been nurtured by how much time Rockstar often spends polishing its blockbuster games before they launch.
Worth noting: Henderson’s comments are not based on leaks, inside tips, or one-on-one communication with anyone at Rockstar. He made sure to point out that these are purely his personal observations-even joking that people should “please not post this on Reddit.” As you might expect, that request didn’t last long.
As it spread via tweets and other social media, some fans took that to mean confirmation of a delay, imminent or otherwise-but that’s not what he said. Henderson has a solid track record of industry insight, yet this time, he’s speaking as a cautious observer, not as a whistleblower.
Fair enough, history would certainly support his trepidation: both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were delayed several times pre-launch. So, Rockstar is pretty notorious for taking its time, getting the product right rather than sticking to release schedules.
For now, though, there’s no reason to sound the alarm. GTA VI is still officially slated for May 26, 2026, with releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until Rockstar says otherwise, fans can take comfort knowing that the wait — however long it ends up being — will almost certainly be worth it.
