Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has once again fueled discussions around Grand Theft Auto VI’s release. During a recent investor call, Zelnick confirmed that the long-awaited blockbuster will debut exclusively on consoles. He noted that the company fully understands its console audience — but when it comes to a PC version, he chose to stay silent.
Earlier, Take-Two’s quarterly report reaffirmed the plan to release GTA VI in fall 2025. However, Zelnick admitted that a delay is still on the table, though no such decision has been made yet. According to multiple rumors, Rockstar is eyeing September 17, 2025, as the launch date — a symbolic choice, since it marks the anniversary of GTA V’s release.
Not everyone is convinced this date will stick. Renowned journalist and insider Jason Schreier has suggested that the game could still be delayed, much like Rockstar’s previous major titles that needed extra polish before hitting the shelves.
For now, GTA VI is officially coming only to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version hasn’t been announced, though a few hints were reportedly spotted in the resumes of Rockstar employees. Zelnick, meanwhile, reassured fans that bringing the game to PC “wouldn’t be difficult” — suggesting that a port may arrive sometime after the console release.
Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij previously shed light on why the studio tends to stagger its console and PC launches. According to him, this strategy helps developers avoid burnout and ensures that each version of the game gets the attention and polish it deserves.
With GTA VI already one of the most anticipated releases in gaming history, fans are watching closely — waiting to see whether Rockstar will stick to its current schedule or take a little longer to deliver its next masterpiece.
