Resident Evil Requiem Targets 4K and Up to 120 FPS on PlayStation 5 Pro

Capcom has shared new technical details about Resident Evil Requiem running on PlayStation 5 Pro, and the upcoming survival horror title is shaping up to take full advantage of Sony’s upgraded hardware. According to developer Akira Nakanishi, players on PS5 Pro will be able to choose between performance-focused and visual-focused modes, with support for 4K resolution and frame rates up to 120 FPS. On PlayStation 5 Pro, Resident Evil Requiem will offer multiple graphical options tailored to different playstyles:

  • Ray Tracing Enabled:
    • 4K resolution
    • 60 frames per second
  • Ray Tracing Disabled:
    • Up to 120 FPS
    • Average performance closer to 90 FPS

While the 120 FPS mode won’t consistently hit the maximum frame rate, Capcom confirms that disabling ray tracing allows for significantly smoother gameplay compared to the standard 60 FPS experience. Nakanishi emphasized that higher frame rates dramatically change how the game feels in motion. According to him, the difference goes beyond numbers on a spec sheet and directly affects immersion.

“What impressed me most about the PS5 Pro was the high frame rate. The difference may not sound huge, but when I go back to 60 FPS, it feels unsatisfying. The sense of realism in the world changes with higher FPS,” — Akira Nakanishi

This focus suggests Capcom is aiming to make Resident Evil Requiem feel more fluid and responsive than previous entries, especially during tense combat and exploration sequences. Beyond visuals and performance, Capcom is also placing strong emphasis on the DualSense controller. Nakanishi highlighted how haptic feedback and adaptive triggers play a key role in immersion. These features are designed to make encounters feel more intense and physical, reinforcing the horror atmosphere that defines the Resident Evil series.

With 4K resolution, optional ray tracing, high frame rate support, and advanced DualSense integration, Resident Evil Requiem appears to be one of Capcom’s most technically ambitious projects to date. The PlayStation 5 Pro version, in particular, aims to deliver a smoother, more immersive experience that highlights the benefits of next-generation hardware. As more details emerge, Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up to be not just another entry in the franchise, but a showcase for what modern console horror can achieve.
