IO Interactive Promises 007 First Light Delivers Every Side of Bond – From Quiet Charm to Explosive Chases

IO Interactive is setting the record straight on 007 First Light in a candid GamesRadar interview: This isn’t “Hitman with James Bond slapped on.” Narrative director Martin Emborg and gameplay director Andreas Krog detailed how the studio — long-time Bond obsessives since the original 2000 Hitman Easter eggs — aims to capture every facet of the spy icon, blending social stealth, explosive action, high-speed pursuits, and gadget-fueled mayhem into a cinematic hybrid. Ditching pure Hitman-style sandboxes, FH6 draws from Hitman: Absolution‘s rhythm — linear story beats ramping tension with “ticking clock” urgency, punctuated by open zones for player agency. “Bond is narrative and immediacy first,” Emborg explained. Stealth or shootouts? Your call, but story drives the pace — no endless freedom at the expense of Bond’s high-stakes vibe.

The mantra: Full-spectrum spy sim. Expect infiltration via wit and charm in quiet moments, brutal combat, vehicle chases, and Q Branch toys. Krog highlighted hybrid gameplay: “From stealth and brawls to driving and social play — decide your aggression level.” It’s Craig-era grit meets timeless flair, honoring 60+ years of films.

Emborg summed it: “Feel like Bond not just gunning or driving, but relying on smarts and charisma in lulls.” Replay shines in opens via challenges and paths — linear stays cinematic.

Post-delay from March (for “further polish”), 007 First Light hits May 27, 2026, on PC (Steam/Epic), PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. DLSS 4 and Xbox Play Anywhere confirmed; pre-order upgrades to Deluxe free.
