During its latest annual investors meeting, Take-Two Interactive offered a reassuring update for fans anxiously awaiting Grand Theft Auto VI. According to company leadership, the game remains firmly on track for its May 26, 2026 release date, with development continuing under Rockstar Games.
“We believe this marks the beginning of a new growth era for our company,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. “Alongside our strong upcoming lineup — including Grand Theft Auto VI in fiscal 2027 — we expect to set record net bookings and build a foundation for accelerated and sustained profitability in the years ahead.”
Even as fans wait for GTA 6, the franchise continues to dominate the gaming landscape. Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online remain some of the most profitable titles in history — together accounting for 12.6% of Take-Two’s total net revenue in the fiscal year ending March 2025. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 and its online component continue to generate consistent income, solidifying Rockstar as the company’s financial powerhouse.
Zelnick praised Rockstar’s ability to keep its older titles relevant more than a decade after release, calling it “a rare and extraordinary achievement in modern entertainment.” He added that GTA 6 is expected to build on that legacy, ushering in what Take-Two hopes will be another long-lasting live-service ecosystem similar to GTA Online — but even more ambitious in scale.
To date, Rockstar has released two official trailers for Grand Theft Auto VI. The first, which debuted in December 2023, broke viewership records within hours. The second, released in May 2025, gave fans a deeper look at the game’s expansive world — including a sun-soaked return to Vice City and its surrounding areas in the fictional state of Leonida. Both trailers reinforced Rockstar’s focus on next-gen realism, detailed environments, and dynamic storytelling.
Interestingly, Take-Two didn’t directly name Rockstar Games during the investor call — instead, the company focused on its broader financial outlook and growth trajectory. Still, Zelnick’s remarks clearly positioned GTA 6 as the centerpiece of Take-Two’s upcoming portfolio.
For fans, the message was clear: Grand Theft Auto VI is on the horizon, development is steady, and the publisher’s confidence hasn’t wavered. If all goes according to plan, 2026 could mark the start of another record-breaking era — not just for Rockstar, but for the entire gaming industry.
